On March 8th, ICE agents were waiting in the foyer of a Columbia University student housing complex.

They were waiting for Mahmoud Khalil and his wife to return from dinner.

When they did, ICE agents arrested Khalil on the spot and have been holding him in a Louisiana detention facility ever since.

Mahmud Khalil is a green card holder. He is a legal permanent resident of the United States.

He was also one of the leaders of the student pro-Palestinian protests that paralyzed Columbia University last year.
