So, al-h-h-h-l-l-ll-h-allat-a-salam.

So we are speaking to you,

with my dear friend and colleague Sami Hamdi.

And yesterday we had a very emotional day

visiting Strabenicia,

interacting with and hearing live testimony from

a number of people, the Imam who told us his story, the local leader, one of the leaders

of the militias that was defending Shrabinichia. And of course we met the elderly grandmother who lost her husband and then her first son

and then she saw the very last days of the massacre she saw her two sons one of them being

dragged away in the in the in the car and she fainted on the spot she lost her entire family

but subhallah one of the sons his wife was pregnant when he was killed, so she gave birth.

And so al-hambul-ll-a, one grandchild.

But to hear from her and to see that, that, you know, stability and the strength that she has.

And this year she told us she performed hajj, mashallah, 79 years old, she performed hajj.

So yesterday was just overwhelming for all of us.

And today's quick topic is a topic that I think needs to be addressed.

How do we make sense of this barbarity and evil,

theologically?

You know, in 2010, I was a part of the first delegation of American imams

that was sent by the State Department to visit Auschwitz and Dachau.

And I went for personal reasons I spoke about that.
