According to the book of Genesis, God created mankind in the animal

world separately. Neither evolved from the other. There are similarities between humans and animals,

but there are stark contrasts as well. For example, humans were created with a longing in the

heart to know God. People have the capability for dominion and a capacity for depravity that we don't see in animals.
