It's been a huge role of the dice depending on which examiners desk your application landed on what was going on at the time, how heavy demand was, and whether or not your Nix check or anybody on your trust if you're submitting that way if their next check got delayed

That could result in you know months and months of additional wait times for you

Today on Gun Talk Nation, we've got Knox Williams, the President and Executive Director of the American Suppressor Association because there's a lot going on with the wait times and you know very short wait times for suppressors and and at the ATF, which all the gun owners, Knox, were like,

wait a minute, what is going on here? This is cool, but I'm, then I'm automatically suspicious. I mean, mean you've got the you've been in this

world for a while I mean what's the backstory? Yeah man so this is something that's been a

long time in the making organizationally ASA has been working on trying to get rid of

unnecessary wait times since we formed in 2011. So this has been over a decade in the

making. For anybody that's been in the NFA market for a while you'll remember the first E-form system that came up late 2013, crashed in early 2014, you know, and it took over eight years for them to get a new E-form system back up, which is pretty

ridiculous to say in the 21st century. But when you're talking about working with the government

bureaucracy, you know, time doesn't really exist, right?

Efficiency.

Efficiency is not the priority for them.

Yeah, not at all, not even close. I don't even think they know what that word means most of the time. But, but yeah, I mean like honestly to start off just gotta give credit where credits due to the NFA division, they've got some new leadership in there and like really they've picked this up and they've run with it and this would not have happened without them doing so and that's one of the few times that I can say something that positive about our counterparts that, well, ATF, really any government agency.

That's an interesting point to make, like, you know, yes, these things are happening that are positive for gun owners.

And it does take the cooperation of the ATF and the NFA division, right?

Absolutely.

I mean, you've been working with them and you guys actually speak to them and have meetings.

It's not just like, we're not just on Facebook complaining.

Yeah, absolutely.
