Hi, I'm Anthony Brooks in for Magna Chalker Party and this is on point.

Well, we all know what happened this week.

At its core, this case today is one with allegations like so many of our white collar cases.

Alligations that someone lied again and again should protect their interests and evade the laws

to which we are all held accountable.

And with that Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg pushed the country into uncharted waters,

making a former American president a criminal defendant for the first time ever.

Donald Trump is accused of falsifying business records to conceal other crimes.

It all stems from hush money, the former president allegedly paid to adult film star Stormy Daniels.

And I never thought anything like this could happen in America.

Never thought it could happen.

Trump pleaded not guilty and is now using the case to amplify his grievances and rally his Republican supporters.

Here's Republican House Speaker Kevin McCarthy on Wednesday criticizing DA Bragg's case.

That's not America. America bleeds in the rule of law.

And the way he's stretching this, everybody knows this is not a real case.

So I think for the health of America, listen to the Republicans and Democrats alike and stop playing politics with our law.

The question now is what happens next? What are the legal and political consequences of this unprecedented case?
