Look, this is what happens when you have forfeited your guarantees.

There's no reason for the 49ers to cut him. No. They can sit and they can wait. There's no trigger. That's why we talk about having that thing in there that forces an early decision. There was nothing to force a decision. They're not on the hook for anything. Everything is not guaranteed. They can wait for someone to call up until week one. As of week one, when he's on the roster and he won't be, but he's on the active roster week one that's when they would owe him his full salary guaranteed as a practical matter and we'll get to that point they're just waiting and they feel no compulsion to work with this guy they should because they look at what he's done and right wrong or otherwise they view him as being the culprit in the collapse of the relationship. this being one where they're waiting in training camp. Some team gets some team that's in the

playoff conversation, one injury, and they go, uh-oh, or they just look at their roster in general

and go, we don't have a guy. Hey, 49ers, here's a third or a fourth rounder for Brandon Iyu. I mean,

we know they don't want him. That's going to hurt his value. It's a big price tag. He's coming off a knee injury. So all that's going to hurt. But yeah, this is a case where the 49ers can wait as long as they possibly can before they unload them. Even if he gets a seventh rounder, It's more than what you have now.
