Here are your Washington headlines of the day. Number one, speaker Mike Johnson's leadership problems. Number two, ways and means takes on the IRS. And number three,

Hakeem Jeffries, plots Dem comeback in New York. All right, Jake, let's get to it. The Top

of Punchball News AM. Looks at the tough road that Speaker Mike Johnson has been going across

some self-inflicted wounds.

We were texting back and forth about it over all yesterday.

But lay it up first because it's, you know, we know that there's been fits, there's

been starts. He's had to pull bills. But when you put the cumulative total of the missteps

that is the Johnson speaker era, I think it's, it's pretty stunning. Yeah, this is,

you have to think about it together. And I'll run through this.

This is just this week, Anna, not anything beyond this week. Democrats won a special election in

New York, narrowing their already minuscule GOP majority of two votes. They lost their sixth rule on the floor, the most in five decades.

They cannot even bring bills to the floor.

This time it was the salt deduction.

They abruptly pulled a pill yesterday in the process, the FISA bill,

while the Rules Committee was meeting.
