Anyway, Seb and I were joined by Liam Twomey of The Athletic today to talk all about Chelsea.

This was a really fun one.

I've shared press boxes with Liam and he's a nice guy. So good to finally have him on. Absolutely. So what we talked about was, is the club for sale? How has Lampard managed without the summer transfer window? In fact, has it worked in his favour, which was interesting. Who's likely on the radar in terms of incoming players or more likely positions that will be targeted? A little bit about Petitschek's evolving role, a little bit about

the finances. There was loads of stuff. I'm going to say that my favorite moment of this

podcast, Seb, was when Liam said that the academy staff are delighted that some players are finally being used because I'd

never considered them before. I'd always thought, was it related to Chelsea, about the players

who must be disappointed, young players going there, thinking there is no route to the first team.

I'd never considered that there were men and women working tirelessly over the last 10 years

to create exceptional footballers

who never ever played for the first team.

That must have been heartbreaking.
