Summary

Supply chain issues are being felt nationwide. Many shelves are empty of common goods and both consumers and retailers are worried things will not improve before the busy holiday shopping season. Rep. Kevin Brady (R-TX), the top Republican on the House Ways and Means Committee, says the problem is being driven by Washington and policies that have led to a labor shortage. Rep. Brady joins the Rundown to explain what social programs he believes are discouraging people to work, why he fears the Democrats' agenda will make matters worse and what can be done to fix the supply issues and our economy Vaccine mandates have become a central and polarizing issue for many Americans. With the COVID-19 vaccine now widely available, federal employees and the U.S. military have been required to get the coronavirus vaccine, however some states are bucking this trend. On Monday, October 11th, Governor Greg Abbott of Texas issued an executive order that would block any vaccine mandates within his state, even for private businesses. Dr. Jerome Adams, 20th U.S. Surgeon General and Director of Health Equity Initiatives at Purdue University joins to discuss the nuances of COVID-19 vaccine mandates, a recent controversy within the Southwest Airlines pilots union over the vaccine mandates, and his belief the government should not restrict how employers keep their employees healthy. Later, he shares his optimism on the return to normalcy and how soon he expects a COVID-19 vaccine for children. Plus, commentary by former Rep. Jason Chaffetz, host of the Jason in the House podcast. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
