For a sense of what Twitter is like these days, consider the case of Elonjet.

Elonjet is an automated Twitter account.

It's been around for a few years, and as its name implies, it has one job to track the

location of Elon Musk's private jet.

This account caught the attention of hundreds of thousands of Twitter users, including

the jet's owner.

Just days after taking the reins at Twitter this fall, Elon Musk tweeted about the

Elonjet account.

He called it, quote, a direct personal safety risk, end quote.

Still, he said he wouldn't ban the account because he's committed to free speech.

And then yesterday,

wings clipped, Twitter's suspending an account from the platform that was dedicated to

tracking Elon Musk's private jet.

So it's interesting, you know, given that Musk has a free speech to advocate, and he had

said he would not suspend the Elonjet account.

Musk suggested that the Elonjet account had violated Twitter's terms of service by posting

his location in real time and endangering his family.

The saga of Elonjet is just one example of how the rules on Twitter seem to be a moving

target.

Musk took control of the site six weeks ago now.

He said he wanted the platform to be a place for free speech and criticized Twitter for

censoring users.
