It's Thursday, July 30th, 2014 from Slate It's the Gest, Mike Pasca. The sci-fi network that

spelled S-Y-F-Y says it generated over a billion Twitter impressions with SharkNado 2. Wow,

that is an impressive, impressive number of a metric I had never heard of before Twitter impressions.

Sci-fi again, S-Y-F-Y also says that it got 3.9 million viewers for SharkNado 2. Now remember,

a billion is a thousand million. So what that means is less than one half of one percent of the people

who saw a SharkNado tweet actually watched SharkNado on the sci-fi S-Y-F-Y network. Side note,

the rules governing the vowel that's used in the network's name also answer the number one question

about the network, which is do you watch sci-fi? Sometimes. Why? And why would anyone watch SharkNado?

I understand SharkNado being a popular phenomenon on Twitter. I'm confused why anyone wants to spend

time with SharkNado in real life. SharkNado is an awesome word. It is a great word to put in a hashtag.

It is wonderful to offer up as a punchline or to make a reference to in order to establish some

hip slash ironic slash unpretentious quality about yourself. It sounds like a fun thing to say,

but it sounds like a horrible thing to live through. Also in that exact category,

hey there's a new album by the Lemon Heads, or token for a free pizza at Chuck E. Cheese, or

the Bush administration. Why would they actually have to make a movie about this? Aren't Twitter

impressions enough? Shouldn't it be like the Hard Rock Cafe? Hell yeah, Hard Rock Cafe. I'm

going to wear that t-shirt. What you want me to eat there? What are you insane? I mean, I so want
