Summary

Ohio State returned to the field to face an undefeated Maryland team and walked away with a 20-point win even if it took some time for the offense to get going. So Stephen Means, Nathan Baird and Andrew Gillis used a postgame Buckeye Talk to try to make sense of it. Should you be worried about how long it took the offense to start clicking while being held under 40 points for the fourth time this season? Or should you focus on what is clearly an improved defense starting to trend toward being elite? Thanks for listening to Buckeye Talk. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Hey, hey, where you been? But God talk is about to begin. Hey, hey, hey, come on in.

Welcome back to a post game, but I talk to you. That means Nathan Baird and Ju Gillis after Ohio State 37 to 17 home win over Maryland to improve you five in O Maryland goes to five and one after this game.

I'm just going to be honest with you. This was a tale of two halves and I have absolutely no idea where to start because I feel like you can take multiple paths of how you want to talk about a 20 point win.

0:59.0

You can nitpick it. You can talk about the bad. You can talk about the good. You can talk about the what it is. I guess let's start with the news part because that's not really good or bad. It's just kind of this is what it is.

1:12.0

Travian Henderson nation did not play on Saturday and they also lost a mecca book in the second half. They got asked about both of those guys. What is the level of concern that both of those guys is or is it long term situations.

1:27.0

Well, we know for Travian Henderson. I think there's more certainty there. Right. We can tell what we were gathering pregame was that this was not going to be a long term situation, mostly from the fact that he's out on the field. He's stretching. He kind of ran onto the field with the team before the start of the game. Like he looked.

1:44.0

I wouldn't say fine. Obviously something must have been wrong, but there was no indication from the way that he acted before the game. This is going to be a long term thing. In fact, Rande said after the game.

1:53.0

He could have played. This is more of a cautionary thing. They were played a little bit safe because of his injury situation last year. So I don't know if that means it directly relates to the left foot issue that he had last season that cost him the end of the year and necessitated surgery.

2:08.0

If that is true, then it makes even more sense why they would hold him out and make sure that they weren't losing him for the long term. It is surprising.

2:16.0

It will be interesting to talk to Trevion again eventually because he's usually pretty open about these things and find out when this happened because we didn't really have an indication that it was something that happened during the Notre Dame game, but perhaps it did and perhaps it just worsened as things do sometimes.

2:34.0

Marvin is a junior saying he went back into the Notre Dame game but could barely move his ankle the next day.

2:39.0

That is a common thing that happens with injuries, but regardless, it sounds like they expect Trevion Henderson doesn't sound like it.

2:47.0

Rande said that he expects him to play against Purdue this coming week.

2:51.0

For Omega Buka, it's a little bit more up in the air.

2:55.0

Day said his early indications were that it is anything significant having to leave the game there in the fourth quarter.

3:01.0

And it was funny because I thought at the end of that play, there's a lot going on when you're trying to cover game.

3:07.0

And at the end of that play, I was like, oh, that's a little awkward. They seem like he got up pretty quickly.

3:11.0

And then I happened to look back up later and he makes about two thirds of the way across the field and then he's just down.

3:16.0

So I didn't actually see the whole sequence that played out there, but I also wonder if he could have come back in the game.

3:23.0

I don't say scored at the end of that drive, went up 10 points and that was as close as it got the rest of the way.

3:27.0

So I wonder if they would have if he would have pushed it to play if he had to.

3:33.0

But as it played out, they got to hold him out the rest of the game. He was seen in a boot after the game, like just the usual.
