0:16.1	There's a lot of talk in our day about being on the right side of history. We're told that we have to believe what our culture does or
0:20.5	we will be left behind. We'll be left up by our kids or grandkids.
0:24.6	Or worse yet, history will look back on us
0:27.0	as being bad people because we didn't support the right things.
0:31.2	Well, that's a powerful argument. I mean, I want to be on the right side of history, don't you. I don't want to support the wrong things. I don't want to be like the people who supported slavery when it's obvious that it was an evil institution. But here's my problem
0:45.2	with the right side of history argument. I think the people who make the case that
0:49.6	Christians have to compromise their convictions, that they have to compromise their faith in order to be on the right side of history,
0:55.0	well I don't think those people know how history ends.
0:59.0	Consider just a hundred years ago, a lot of smart people in the United States and Europe believed in eugenics.
1:05.8	When I say a lot of smart people, I mean Supreme Court justices, Congress people, people
1:11.4	who held institutional power.
1:13.4	They believed in eugenics, which is the idea
1:15.8	that you can perfect the human race.
1:18.4	In practical terms, eugenics was incredibly racist
1:22.0	and it was set against people with disabilities.
1:25.0	Those people were just going to be erased from our world.
1:29.0	Now every sane person rejects eugenics.
1:33.2	In fact, if you support eugenics today,
1:35.3	you'll likely be called a Nazi,
1:37.4	because it's the Nazis who carried out eugenics
