first acted on the ERA, and now it may actually have a real shot at becoming law.

Carol Jenkins, co-president and CEO of the ERA Coalition and the Fund for Women's Equality,

joined What Next host, Mary Harris, to explain why there's reason to be optimistic,

despite the long fight to adopt the ERA.

Held a hearing on the Equal Rights Amendment, a blanket rule meant to assure women's equality.

We know that when women are treated with equal dignity and respect in the workplace and the home,

our institutions of government and our society at large, all of the American people stand to benefit. And we know that a simple but fundamental guarantee of equality should be welcomed rather than feared.
