an extremely brave survivor who took her grandfather to court.

to what your family life was like when you were growing up. I mean, like, how did your parents meet?

What were they like? So my parents were, they met in rural eastern Oregon, which is like picture cowboys,

rodeo culture, very white.

My mom actually had moved to Oregon from Maine in the early 70s.

And she was a teacher.

She happened to be working at a truck stop in the summertime as a waitress before or over the school year or over in the summer.

And my dad was in law school in Salem which is a

about a couple hours away from there it's on the western side of the state and he happened to

get a flat tire and he was waiting for help to come from my grandfather who was a farmer

a couple hours away in even further eastern Oregon and they struck up a conversation and
