make the West. When you talk about Athens, you're thinking, you know, the great philosophers of

Greece and Rome. When you talk about Athens, you're thinking, you know, the great philosophers of Greece and Rome.

When you talk about Jerusalem, you're thinking about the scriptural tradition, first of the Jews and

then of the Christians and everything that we mean when we say Judeo-Christian teaching and tradition.

And those two things meet and transform the Roman Empire after the conversion of

Constantine so that what we now think of as the West becomes a series of nations as well.
