John Quincy Adams was the sixth president of the United States,

one of the most accomplished presidents.

He was the eighth Secretary of State.

He was part of the Dean of the House of Representatives.

He was a senator, a congressman.

He was the ambassador to the European powers. He was involved

with the Revolutionary War, the War of 1812, and also the events that would eventually lead up to

the Civil War. But historians talk about John Quincy Adams as perhaps the most qualified of all

the presidents we've had in the history of the United States. He was maybe the most qualified of all the presidents we've had in the history of the United

States, he was maybe the most qualified of all presidents. He is accomplished and quite incredible.

But at the age of 70, and nobody really knew this until after he passed, but at the age of 70,

he wrote in his journal this. It's kind of

sad. He said, my whole life has been a succession of disappointments. I can scarcely recollect a

single instance of success to anything that I ever undertook. Was he just depressed on that day,

or could it be that all of his accomplishments the older he got

didn't really actually bring him the satisfaction that he thought it would or you know what he did

maybe he didn't do enough in fact there is a syndrome where people that have been in that office of

the president of the United States they feel overwhelmed by what they didn't accomplish or weren't able to do, which is kind of interesting.

But then a person like me, I look at a guy like that and think, man, what hope do I ever have of mattering or making a difference?

And what will people say about you a hundred years from now if they think about you at all?

You know, it's an interesting thing to talk about your worth and your value and why do I exist.

And you even ask the question, you know, why am I here?
