0:11.5	I'm Patrick Miller. And I'm Keith Simon. Right now we're
0:14.7	learning what it looks like to follow Jesus by working our way through the gospel of
0:19.0	Luke. Jesus is beginning the last night of his life before his crucifixion.
0:24.0	He eats Passover with his disciples, a meal which is intentionally recalling the
0:29.2	exodus when God rescued his people from Egypt and they all ate a meal before he liberated them.
0:35.8	But if we saw the last supper today, we might actually think of communion, because that's
0:40.2	where communion started.
0:42.4	Jesus is renewing God's covenant with Israel and he's turning his disciples into a new Israel.
0:48.0	And so I think he kind of got to love what happens next, right? So it's this amazing moment, this exodus moment, we're a new Israel, and what do the disciples do? Luke 2224.
0:58.0	They began to argue competitively among themselves, who seemed to be the greatest of them.
1:04.0	Seriously?
1:05.0	I mean is this a frat house?
1:06.5	Jesus is starting the new Israel and we're sitting around bragging about who's the
1:10.3	greatest.
1:11.6	This strikes us as super strange today
1:13.8	because it's considered impolite to brag.
1:16.6	Honestly, that's probably too nice.
1:18.3	People who boldly brag about themselves,
1:20.6	at least in our culture,
1:21.6	they are considered proud, rude, out of touch,
1:25.0	almost laughable right if you saw someone doing it you kind of snicker. This is why
