But before we sit, we're going to read this text together. This is what God has for us. This is his

word to us tonight. If you haven't been with us, we've been, we're just studying the gospel of

Luke this entire school year. We just want to see God more clearly. Luke has already told us

that he wants us to have certainty about Jesus. He wants you to have certainty about Jesus.

And we're committed, believing that we think there's no certainty without clarity.

We want a clear picture of Jesus and there's no clarity without proximity. And so every week,

the Word of God has been giving us an opportunity to draw close to Jesus. He's going to keep

doing that right now, perhaps, in a more powerful way than we've experienced so far.

So this is Luke chapter four, starting in verse 14, and it's what God has for us.

It says, then Jesus returned to Galilee in the power of the Spirit,

and news about him spread throughout the entire vicinity. He was teaching in their synagogues,

being praised by everyone. He came to Nazareth where he had been brought up. As usual,

he entered the synagogue on the Sabbath day and stood up to read. The scroll of the prophet Isaiah

was given to him, and unrolling the scroll, he found the place where it was written.

The Spirit of the Lord is on me because he has anointed me to preach good news to the poor.
