Hi everyone and welcome to becoming the people. I've just gotten back from being on the road for the last month and a half for my book tour for what it takes to Heel and I got to visit I think 12 or 13 cities and spend time with so many people who poured so much love and

affirmation, people who were committed to personal and systemic transformation.

We got to share space, we got to grieve together, we got to laugh,

ask questions, learn together.

It was a really remarkable time.

So to folks who I met on the road, who I shared space with,

thank you so much for coming out for supporting.

And for those who I didn't get to see this time around, hopefully next time around,

we'll be able to share some space.

At becoming the people we wanted to just give our listeners a little bit of a peek into what the book tour was like,

our time on the road and so we are sharing outside of our normal interview style.

This is a recording from our Seattle book event where I'm being interviewed by I Jama Oluo,

who is a writer, you may know her book,

so you want to talk about race,

or you may know her most recent book be a revolution.

Both of those books are so important for us in understanding race dynamics history of protest of organizing and I

think her newest book Be a Revolution is particularly important for us now as we are doing this work of changing

ourselves internally but also changing the external conditions and the

oppression and violence that we see in the world.

So this is our conversation in Seattle for those who couldn't be there.
