It's the New Year, and for some that means resolutions to eat healthy food and get in

shape.

You've probably heard the standard advice to lose weight, eat fewer calories than you

burn.

But we at Gastropod wanted to know, is a calorie, a calorie, no matter what food it comes

from, and is one calorie for you, the same as one for me?

To find out, we visit the rooms where calories are measured and the labs where scientists

are proving that the numbers on our food labels are off, sometimes by quite a bit.
