Earlier this evening, the Iranian government confirmed that on Saturday, during the first

hours of the joint Israeli and American strike on the Islamic Republic, the decades-long

Supreme Leader of Iran, Ayatollah Ali Khamini, was killed.

The attack reportedly targeted Khomey during a meeting with members of his inner circle,

who were also eliminated.

According to Iran's media, Khomeini's daughter and grandchildren were killed as well.
