but this isn't just any old run-of-the-mill rainforest.

No, it's the most famous rainforest of them all.

Do you know what that is? Go ahead, call it out. Are you yelling out, the Amazon?

If so, you're right again.

And if your adults think you're trying to get them to order you something off of Amazon, tell them not to worry.

We're talking about the world's oldest and wettest ecosystem, not packages.

Anywho, at the moment, I'm waiting for my friend Desi.

He's a park ranger here, and in his spare time,

he's taking college classes to become an ophiologist.

Oh, have you not heard that word before, smarties?

Well, in that case, let's figure it out.

Ophys is the ancient Greek word for

snake. So, ophiology is a branch of zoology that studies.

Snakes! And while I'm not exactly the hugest fan of snakes,

I think I prefer them to all the mosquitoes and other large

winged creatures who seem to love my skin. Hopefully Desi shows up soon with

the extra large can of insect repellent.
