Summary

The war rages on, Trojans vs. Latins. Jove convenes a meeting of the gods and Juno and Venus each make their case. And finally, FINALLY, Aeneas is on the horizon.

CW/TW: far too many Greek myths involve assault. Given it's fiction, and typically involves gods and/or monsters, I'm not as deferential as I would be were I referencing the real thing.

Sources: Virgil's Aeneid, translated by Sarah Ruden.

the times and I also discovered it quite late so it's partially my fault but

1:01.6

basically I just don't want to do this special

1:08.4

I'm really hoping that the book arrives this week so I can do it for next week.

1:13.4

If not, it might be in the new year.

1:15.1

Because we're getting close to the time when there are stretches where people simply

1:18.6

don't listen to podcasts.

1:20.2

So if I'm being honest, I don't want to release a really special episode during that time. It's a waste.

1:25.0

Anyway, that's why we're back with Aeneas, in what I think will be the first of two or three final episodes on the man and his steps to found the foundations of Rome.

1:38.7

I'm also excited to say that I'm going to be speaking with a special guest very soon all about

1:44.1

Anias and the Aniad and we're going to learn why we should actually like him and

1:49.2

this book. But for now, oh Anius and the Trojans I should say as Anius figured very little into our last episode because yes, we're still waiting on his return.
