What's some advice you can give on how to have a good life?

The typical advice that any priest would give.

So it's prayer, sacrifice, and alms giving.

It's that simple, actually.

With regards to prayer, I think, you know, St. Alphonse's is called the

doctor of prayer because he insists on it so much. He always says that whoever prays will

certainly be saved. Whoever does not pray will certainly be downed. And that's why it's so important,

especially in times of temptation. I think sometimes people forget this. The importance of just,

you know, calling on God on the name of Jesus and Mary during times of temptation.

C. D'Alphonse says this beautiful phrase from his book on the glories of Mary.

He says, whoever sincerely calls on the name of Mary in time of impure temptation can be sure that he has not consented to mortal sin.

And he goes on to explain this. He says, if you sincerely call on

our lady's name that she will make sure that you do not lose the grace and friendship of Jesus Christ,

her son, your savior. And so that's the importance, this importance of prayer, especially in times

of temptation. People, it's so easy just to give up so easily,

honestly. Whereas perseverance, that's the other thing. St. Alphonse's was always insisting of perseverance.

That was whether the case of in the state of grace, perseverance in one's vocation and life, gosh,

we see this all the time nowadays. I mean, whether it's, you know, religious

people going off the deep end one way or the other, or, you know, married people separating

and like that, the perseverance is absolutely essential. And prayer is a big part of this,

of perseverance, in fact. Prayer, sacrifice, that's pretty obvious, I think, and everyone knows that for

Lent anyway, almsgiving also, just being able to help our neighbor. And I remember a priest
