What's going on, guys. Alex here. Hope you're having a great week. This week's question for the

catechism is question number 16. What is sin? My family and I went to the beach this week and

there was a family standing in the grass looking over the rocks in the ocean and I walked right around

them and down this little staircase. And this

staircase is hard to see because it's made out of the same rocks that the lava rocks are made out of.

And so the family said to themselves as I walked down with the kids, I didn't even know that

was there. Look at that. And I wonder how many people that, you know, are here on vacation

and walk by that and just ignore this staircase. And down here is like lots of tide pools and it's

beautiful and it's a fun place. But it made me think about this definition of sin that the catechism

gives. And this is from the New City Catechism by Crossway and the

Gospel Coalition. Not in partnership with them, but we've been using it because it's so just

simple the way that they put their questions and answers. It says that sin is rejecting or

ignoring God in the world he created, rebelling against him by living without reference to him, not being

or doing what he requires in his law, resulting in our death and the disintegration of all

creation.

I like the idea of sin being rebelling against God by living without reference to him, Like just going about our day, walking around,

and not even realizing that he's there,

not even referencing him at all,

kind of how people treat this beautifully woven staircase.

They rebel against it by just walking by it,

by not even referencing it at all.

And just ignoring it and rejecting to even use it
