| 0:00.0 | We have a show to do today. |
| 0:02.7 | The whole new acronym thing, drive me effing pen. |
| 0:06.5 | Can we call him by his wing? |
| 0:08.4 | Shelver and Mass. |
| 0:09.5 | On 985, the Sports Hub. |
| 0:11.1 | Let's go. |
| 0:13.0 | I've been on this for two years, Maz. |
| 0:14.7 | I guess you could say I'm the original Marcella Meyer hater in Boston. |
| 0:18.5 | He got to AA, and it became apparent that there were questions about |
| 0:21.7 | him hitting lefties and hitting curve balls. I've seen that story before. I mean, that is like old |
| 0:27.0 | school baseball. Can you hit the curve? Yes, sir. They made a Disney movie about it for Christ's |
| 0:31.1 | sakes. Can you hit the curve? Something close to. Trouble with the curve. Yes. It doesn't matter |
| 0:36.2 | what it's called. It's the oldest adage in baseball. Trouble with the curve. Can you hit the curve? Can you hit a hook? That's why when all of us were 14 years old, we saw a curveball for the first time that ended most of us. It ended Marcelo Meyer when he got to Portland. You found out that he can't hit a curveball. |
| 1:01.5 | So at that point, a real GM makes a hard decision and says, we either need to trade him or stick it out and believe he can do it. |
| 1:04.9 | I don't think the Red Sox even considered it because it was just determined that he was |
| 1:09.1 | the second coming. |
| 1:10.1 | And it turns out that he really didn't hit all that much at AA and AAA, not for any impact. Hit for a little average, but that was fine, no power. He gets to the big leagues. He can't hit lefties. He can't hit off speed. He can't hit for power. Can't hit anything. Guy hits 200 at Fenway. He hits 400 in the Seaport, though. I mean, he's great in the seaport. It's Teddy ball game in the seaport, Maz. And he can't do anything else. So I don't want to say I saw it coming with Meyer, but it wasn't that hard to predict that maybe, just maybe, he wasn't Corey Seeger, which is what we were promised when he was drafted years ago thought we'd start with some baseball and live up to our commitment to bash the ever-loving hell out of the Red Sox on a daily basis and uh we're going to start with that we're going to start with that marcello meyer play from yesterday and uh that was matt mcc McCarthy's commentary on the baseball hour with Mazz last night. |
| 2:04.5 | And so I just thought I'd start with that. |
| 2:05.9 | A little bit of a different show today in terms of location and personnel. |
| 2:10.1 | We got Alex Barth in the Mazz chair here in our town for entire studios. |
| 2:13.0 | Hi, Barthie. |
| 2:13.6 | Hey. |
