Summary
We see and use light every day, but have you ever wondered what is light? Why can we see colors? And how did God use light at the very beginning? We’re exploring how light travels in waves and photons, why objects bounce colors into our eyes, and even how creatures glow using living light (bioluminescence) and reflective light (biofluorescence). We’ll hear how in Genesis 1:1-5 God said, “Let there be light,” and see how that shines into our lives today. Get ready to discover the amazing science of light — and the One who IS the Light!

Scriptures Referenced in This Episode:
“In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters.
And God said, ‘Let there be light,’ and there was light. God saw that the light was good, and he separated the light from the darkness. God called the light ‘day,’ and the darkness he called ‘night.’ And there was evening, and there was morning—the first day.” Genesis 1:1-5 (NIV)
“Before the mountains were born
or you brought forth the whole world,
from everlasting to everlasting you are God.” Psalm 90:2 (NIV)
“...God is light, and in him there is no darkness at all.” 1 John 1:5b (NCV)
“In the beginning there was the Word (Jesus). The Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. All things were made by him, and nothing was made without him. In him there was life, and that life was the light of all people. The Light (Jesus) shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overpowered it.” John 1:1-5 (NCV)
“But you are a chosen people, royal priests, a holy nation, a people for God’s own possession. You were chosen to tell about the wonderful acts of God, who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.” 1 Peter 2:9 (NCV)
