Thank you for being with us as we look at the aftermath of the killing of four University of Idaho students in

2022. And even though the sun has set on this killer's story after his sentencing, the

memory of those young lives that were lost lives on. Here's the story.

In November of 2022, gruesome killings shocked a quiet college town. One cold morning, four University of Idaho students, Kaylee Consolves, Madison Mogan, Santa

Kurnodal, and Ethan Chapin were savagely stabbed to death in their off-campus home. Brian Coburger was arrested and

charged. An investigation revealed he had studied criminology in grad school. Prosecutors said they

had significant evidence, DNA, cell phone records, surveillance video, and a knife sheath. In a twist,

Kovberger avoided capital punishment and struck a deal

with prosecutors. Now the quadruple murderer will spend the rest of his life in a maximum

security prison in Idaho. At his sentencing hearing, family members of the victims didn't

hold back, sharing their grief, they're disgust with the defendant and honoring the four innocent young lives lost.

Afterward, investigators released a mountain of information, giving us new insight into how the atrocity played out and what they learned about Koberger's movements.

We're continuing to dig into what new details we may be able to learn about out of this tragedy now that the gag order has been lifted.

But before this killer was taken off to prison under that new sentence from the judge handed down four consecutive life sentences,

the family was able to speak their mind in the form of victim impact
