Summary

The Athletic's Jack Pitt-Brooke, Charlie Eccleshare and James Maw discuss the latest from The Lane after another defeat for Jose Mourinho. But were there signs of improvement against Liverpool? And are the team finding an identity under the new manager? We also hear from Jose himself, who seems to be really missing injured left-back Ben Davies.

Hello and welcome to The Vusion the Lane, our Tottenham Hotspur podcast from The Athletic.

0:22.8

My name is Jack Pitbrook.

0:24.2

I'm joined again today by James Moore and Charlie Ackleshare.

0:27.6

Charlie has just made it down here to our studio from the Tottenham training ground where he's been at Jose Marino's press conference.

0:33.7

Charlie, how was he?

0:35.0

He was all right, yeah.

0:37.4

I think I'm trying to see the positives from the weekend,

0:41.1

reasonably engaging,

0:43.7

especially when the topics were kind of not Harry Kane or transfers,

1:25.3

been willing to engage on this sort of topic.

1:28.9

And actually I asked him about something last week and had a bit of a you moment.

1:34.1

You know, I felt like a bit of a fanboy.

1:35.6

But I asked a question and he said, I like the question.

1:39.5

That's actually what I would have asked to sort of butter me up to then slap me down by saying, but I can't answer that question. So it was a classic kind of give with one hand take with the other. And so on that occasion, that was about, you know, how they set up without Kane and whether that would be any different. Today I asked him about he's kind of switched between a back three and a back four, which thinks been quite interesting. And he's been quite flexible on that.
