Hey everybody, this is Tim and this is a special bonus episode on the podcast this week. We

are reposting a scholar interview that we did with Michael Heiser a number of years ago. Mike

is a biblical scholar. He's written many books that have had a really big influence on lots of

you all and a big influence on me and on this project. His book The Unseen Realm, his books on

angels and demons have been so helpful to me and a lot of people. Mike also, some of you may

remember contributed to Bible project. He consulted for our video series on spiritual beings and on

those podcast episodes. That's when we did this interview. The reason we're reposting it is because

we received news recently just last week that Mike is in the final stages of a losing battle

with pancreatic cancer. Mike is in the final days of his life. We wanted in this really sacred

season to honor Mike and to celebrate his life and his work by reposting this interview. Mike

was a really brilliant biblical scholar. I first met Mike in my first year in my PhD studies

in the Department of Hebrew and Semitic Studies at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. My first

year was his last year. I actually watched him defend his dissertation. Ever since then, I just

kept track of him and just really respected his commitment to both biblical scholarship but also

making all of his learning accessible to a wide audience. He did that through his many books,

also through his podcast, The Naked Bible podcast. I've just learned so much from Mike over the years.

In fact, I know many of you have found Bible project through Mike's work. He actually mentioned

the Bible project really often and we tried to steer many of you to benefit from his work as well.

And so we're really sad that his earthly life is nearing its end. But we also celebrate

what God has done through Mike's life and through his passion and through his work.
