broadcast. In Matthew chapter 12, Jesus referred to what has become known as the unpardonable sin.

And he said, every sin and blasphemy will be forgiven men, but the blasphemy against the

spirit will not be forgiven men.

Then he added, anyone who speaks a word against the son of man, it will be forgiven him.

But whoever speaks against the Holy Spirit, it will not be forgiven

him, either in this age or in the age to come. All that sounds serious. It sounds scary, and it

sounds a little strange all at the same time. What exactly did Jesus mean by all that?

Let's approach this biblically, theologically, and pastorally.

And one of the basic rules of biblical interpretation is you have to look at the context.

So let's look at the context.

Jesus is dealing with Jewish religious leaders.

So if anybody should understand the workings of God, understand truth, understand the Holy Spirit.

In that day, it should have been these leaders.

So Jesus was casting out demons, and they began to attack him.

They couldn't deny something was really happening.

So they tried to explain it while he's casting out demons by the prince of demons. He's full of the devil.

And so the devil has power over the little demons. And so he's casting out demons by the power of the devil. Of course, Jesus pointed out the absurdity of this on several levels. If Satan is
