| 0:55.4 | Mason education to people who are unfamiliar, it's one of the first things that I start with, |
| 0:59.3 | because I think it's something that really differentiates this type of education from what |
| 1:04.0 | most of us are used to. So living ideas are these ideas that give children a curious view of the world. |
| 1:14.3 | And these are the ideas that make them want to learn more to spark some new idea, right? |

| 1:24.2 | And so the way to think about it would be to think of living ideas as the opposite |
| 1:30.0 | of just dry facts. And so when I was in school, there was a lot of regurgitation of facts, |
| 1:37.0 | memorization, without the informing idea. And so living ideas send us in a different direction |
| 1:42.9 | to say we start with the informing idea, |
| 1:46.2 | and the facts will undergird that and will come and fall from there. |
| 1:50.2 | I love how Charlotte worded it, that the facts are clothed in the living idea. |
| 1:57.0 | And there's a quote, too, let me find it on my, I just happen to have it on my phone here. |
| 2:03.8 | It is a great thing that the child should get the ideas proper to the qualities inherent in him. |
| 2:09.3 | An idea fitly put is taken in without effort. |
| 2:13.9 | And once in, ideas behave like living creatures. They feed, grow, and multiply. |
