fair warning, it's going to be extra annoying this year. Things are going to

cost more, they'll be harder to find, but this is America, land of consumerism,

so people are still shopping. They're just doing things a little differently this

year. Here to tell us more is Emily Stewart, senior reporter for Vox. Hey,

Emily. Hi, Ronnie. So Emily, we're constantly being told how much it sucks to be

a consumer right now. You can't buy this. You don't want to pay so much for that.

What's it like out there? Inflation is a lot right now. So the consumer price

index, which measures, but consumers pay for goods and services increased by 6.2%

from a year ago in October. That's the fastest pace since 1990, and prices

were up almost 1% during the month. Even if you don't know these numbers, you've
