of Trump Apocalypse, which is not easy to say. So welcome one and all. Bill Galston is currently having a little bit of a computer glitch so he will join us we hope in just a minutes, but we're going to get rolling.

Much to discuss this week was the funeral for Tyree Nichols and his beating death at the hands of five police officers in Memphis has

ignited another conversation in this country about what to do about excessive police violence and it is obviously a depressing subject the fact that it keeps happening but I thought we would take the plunge and hopefully maybe begin to

propose some things that are not conventional.

David Fromm, I'm going to start with you.

The usual policy recommendation that you hear is that we pass the George Floyd Justice

In Policing Act, which does have some good features to it. What do you make of this?

I don't want to judge what happened in this terrible incident. There are facts still out there

that will gradually accumulate and I don't want to be

hasty about any of this. But I would stress that a message that people need to

take away is America does not need less policing. We have been through a serious

surge of crime really beginning since 2014, but especially intensely since 2020. And that's
