and the sunday times uh team let's crack on today labor is going to select its candidate for the

make a field by-election i reckon it's going to pick Andy Burnham. It's going to be an extraordinary

by-election where the people who have made a field effectively, probably decide an ex-prime minister,

leading to the obvious question. And Sonia, I think I'll ask this first to you. What happens if

Labour loses? Well, I think if Labour loses, it highlights that Labour is actually in a

worse place electorally

than we thought after the local election results last week.

So I think if Andy Burnham doesn't win in Maker Field, all bets are off really as to what

happens next.

I think there is a chance that we don't end up with a leadership contest potentially, maybe even

Kirstarmer hangs around for a lot longer than we thought, or there is a leadership contest and it

will basically be the moderate wing of the party represented by Westreating, slugging it out

against the soft left wing of the party, but

the soft left wouldn't have their preferred candidate who would be Andy Burnham. So I think

you'd be talking about someone like Angela Rainer or Ed Miliband. And you know, it's kind of
