James Taylor, nothing personal word of the day on March 1st, 2021. You've got a friend.

0:25.3

You've got to do is call and we've got spring training. Yes, we do. We've got spring training

0:39.0

games. A lot of tweets going out this weekend. There'll be no more Fridays without a game

0:46.3

until November, no more Sundays. I guess there's always games Friday and Sunday unless 10

0:52.3

games get rained out. It was a big deal. Spring training games started. People were ready

0:56.9

giving text alerts, strikeouts, walks, home runs, wins, losses. And it got me thinking

1:05.2

that I had to lead off the show with James Taylor because there's a view of spring that

1:10.3

seems to be out there that just isn't accurate. So you're nothing personal. We're going

1:17.0

to make it accurate. Now, one of the people who tweeted at me or just tweeted in general

1:22.5

about a spring training game, when I said, by the way, that's not accurate. Then it was

1:29.1

the response was I was being sarcastic. And I sort of believe me, maybe sarcastic,

1:33.2

but there's plenty of people who aren't. And I was one of them. I was one of the guys,

1:39.3

my first year in baseball at the tender young age of whatever I was 32 years old in February

1:50.9

of 2000. First spring training game, sitting there watching excited as can be, want to remember

1:58.1

the moment. Very badly want to win the game. What did I know? I knew I'd run a company.

2:05.4

I didn't really understand the rhythm of baseball. If you're not in the game, you can't

2:10.5

really understand. And it takes years and years to really figure out the rhythmic nature

2:16.7

of the game, the seasonal nature, the body clock nature, the way it impacts you in every

2:23.6

way, the way that every day becomes a little bit like round talk day. I would always tell

2:31.0

people, hey, you want to know where I am? I'm at the same damn place every day at 7 0 5

2:38.0

PM every day. I'm either at a game or watching a game every day, 7 0 5. I don't know where

2:44.3

I am easy. So the first day of spring training, first game, I want to tell you how it works.
