I did something a bit strange yesterday.

I feel I should confess.

I looked up Mark Francois on Wikipedia.

Two things quite interesting about Mark Francois.

His middle name is Gino.

Did you know that?

Gino, because his mum's Italian.

It's amazing how many of these people who are absolutely passionately opposed to immigration

would not be here in this generation, were it not for immigration.

But that's a conversation for another day.

And the reason why I looked him up was because I caught myself doing him a disservice.

And it's very important to acknowledge when you do diservices to people.

You know who Mark Francois is.

People often compare him to Penfold out of Danger Mouse,

which I don't think is particularly insulting.

Penfold was a lovely character in many ways,

a better character than Danger Mouse himself.
