0:13.1

We're so thankful that you've tuned in today.

0:16.0

Today we're going to be talking about Azusa Street.

0:18.6

If you're a Pentecostal, you probably have heard about Azusa

0:21.9

Street, and Dr. Bernard is going to tell us a little bit about that today. Dr. Bernard, during

0:27.2

general conference, if people tuned into that, and people can go to our YouTube page and watch

0:32.2

the Friday night service, the Southern California District, SoCal District, they staged a drama in which they recreated

0:39.1

some of what happened at Azusa Street. Now, for those in our audience who may not be familiar

0:45.4

with Azusa Street, and maybe for those who have heard that name, but don't really know what

0:50.8

1:37.3

However, by, say, the third and fourth centuries, the institutionalized church by and large had lost this outpouring of the

1:46.2

Holy Spirit. There were always some who received the Spirit, and as we study church history,

1:52.0

we can find groups here and there and testimonies here and there. But as of, say, 1900,

1:59.5

there was no organized group specifically teaching you can and should receive the baptism of the Holy Ghost with the initial sign of speaking in tongues.

2:10.3

But Azusa Street changed all that. By the way, if you'd like to read about it, I have a three-volume series called A History of Christian

2:19.4

Doctrine. So volumes one and two come after the Bible, and they will give evidence of Pentecostal

2:27.9

revivals or experiences throughout history. But then volume three, a history of Christian doctrine,
