How are those New Year's resolutions going for you this 14th of January 2012?

My resolution consisted of eating less and exercising more and I'm happy to

report that I've been sticking to it. Amazing, isn't it? Before we jump into

the second story for the month, I would like to announce that the

Hugo nominations are now open. If you were an attending member last year at renovation, you are eligible to nominate your favorite works in all of the categories.

And if you were an attending member of ChaiCon this year, you are also eligible to nominate. I encourage you to go to the ChaiCon

website to find out more information. I cannot stress enough how important it is for your participation in these fan-based awards.

As a reminder, we have removed Clark's World magazine from consideration this year for the

best semi-prosyine award. So please nominate somebody who you think is a wonderful

semi-prozine. I know who my nomination is going to. What about you? So on to our fiction.

Some of you might remember Raoul Kanakia by his peace, the Association of the Dead,

which had the Interesting Naming Scheme, which was featured in our

July 2010 issue. Today he brings us a piece entitled What Everyone Remembers.

Raoul grew up in Washington, D.C.

He graduated from Stanford University

with a BA in economics in 2008

and subsequently returned to DC to work

for the World Bank on Environmental Operations in India,

Pakistan, and Bangladesh. He currently lives in Oakland, California, and works as an international

development consultant.
