When you watch one of our predator investigations, one of our take down with Chris Hansen

investigations on my streaming crime network, True Blue, you pretty much see justice served in real time. The predator commits the crime.

We take you inside the commission of that felony. He shows up. He communicates with the

decoy poisoning as a child. I come in, interrogate him, and then he's taken away in handcuffs

to go through the criminal justice system.

The unfortunate reality, though, and what haunts me in many cases, is that victims of serious crime,

victims of predators, don't get justice that quickly. It could take forever and sometimes

victims don't ever get justice. And that's why there are important organizations like the

National Center for Victims of Crime that exist to help people navigate this often complicated

world. And so it is that Renee Williams,

who's CEO of that organization, is taking a seat with me today on this episode.

Hi, Chris. Thanks for having me.

You know, we know that organizations like yours and specifically yours exist and you do such amazing work.

It's got to be so difficult for someone who's involved in a case, who's a survivor, victim in a case like Epstein or Cosby.

If you're not moneyed and you don't have lawyers, how do you even start the

process? And what does your organization do to help people like that? I think that's a difficult

question that a lot of people face. It was actually why we were founded because our founders who

did have money and did have access to lawyers realized

that very struggle for other victims. We provide a hotline for any victims to get help. We also

provide attorney referrals to get started. Unfortunately, what a lot of victims face is,

their first step has to be reporting the crime. And for many victims, just that step is often
