We all seem to take turns with that kind of wrestling match, but what is doubt?

According to dictionary.com, it is the state of being uncertain.

Another dictionary says that there's an emotional side to doubt, which leads to indecision between belief and unbelief.

Doubt can range from uncomfortable to agonizing.

You know, doubt is a very real struggle,

but it is especially hard when we're doubting God.

Thank you. Now back to today's valuable study. I am so glad that God provided the historic accounts of lives of so many people who were just like us.

We have scripture full of people who have gone through things that we are going through. We are not the

first people to wrestle with uncertainty, disbelief, or even skepticism. God can help us to grow in our

ability to trust Him. Let's look at three ways that doubt works against our faith and consider how we can surrender our

doubts to God. First, doubt reduces our faith. Do you remember Zacharias in the New Testament?

Zacharias was a priest, and yet we can read about how doubt reduced his faith when he questioned God's ability to work miraculously.

The angel of the Lord appeared to Zacharias in Luke chapter 1, verse 12, and announced that

Zacharias and his wife Elizabeth would be having a child. They were both very old people,

and let's face it, the human ability to have children naturally

reduces with age. The Bible doesn't tell us the ages of Zacharias and Elizabeth, but in

verse 7, it does say that Elizabeth was barren, and they were both well stricken in years.
