What does the Bible say about being transgender? And how should Christians respond to people

that are struggling with gender dysphoria or identify as

transgender? Transgender is an umbrella term for persons whose gender identity, gender expression or

behavior does not conform to that typically associated with the sex that they were assigned at birth.

Gender identity and biological sex are different from each other.

Now, gender dysphoria is a clinical diagnosis for those who experience distress

with marked inconsistency between the gender associated with their birth

and the gender that they would like to be.

According to American Psychiatric Association 1994, gender identity disorder is diagnosed when a person's cross-gender

identification is strong and persistent

appearing in both statements and behavior.

And one of the ways that they diagnosed this, in addition, is that the assigned sex or gender role

must cause persistent discomfort or a sense of feeling inappropriate being in your own gender.

Generally speaking, homosexuals do not have gender identity disorder.

Majority of homosexuals identify strongly with their biological gender.

Homosexuality is distinctive in that it involves sexual attraction to the persons of the same gender.
