well I'm going to do a solo show today. Valerie is off traveling around Europe,

Sarah Bellum is swamped at the work project, and Randy, well, I couldn't

coax him out of retirement. Not to worry, you've sent in a lot of questions and I'm going to answer

some of them today. On the show today, we're going to go. of questions about

about thinning hair and the research going on in that area.

Whether cupping is an effective facial treatment, which sunscreen ingredients block UVA,

and why mendelic acid is used in some deodorants.

Now since this is a solo show today, I thought I'd take a little time to talk about the

beauty brains and why we continue to do this. We started the beauty brains mostly

because it sounded like a fun project and

there seemed to be an interest. Actually when I was at parties and people would

learn that I was a cosmetic chemist they'd have all kinds of questions, questions about the beauty products, what worked,

what was fake, what should they use, and it was really fun answering these questions.

It was pretty rare that a consumer would get a chance to speak directly to the

scientist who make the beauty products and you know the if you can explain science and sort of a

fundamental easy understandable way people find it very interesting now back when

Randy and I started the beauty brains there really weren't a lot of ways for consumers to talk directly to scientists.
