The government alleges Google's using its position

to stifle competition for online searches.

The Justice Department says Google pays billions of dollars

a year to manufacturers of devices like smartphones

to make it the default browser.

Justice lawyers also point out that Google requires

its search engine be bundled into its Android software.

The government says that gives Google an unfair advantage.

Google says people use it because, quote, they choose to.

And Justice filed a second case against Google

earlier this year, accusing it of dominating online advertising.

Groups of state attorneys general are also suing Google.
