Welcome to the Gospel Center Pro Life podcast. We wanted to have a little bit of a conversation because everyone is having a conversation about the coronavirus.

And we wanted to talk about it and we wanted to talk about it in light of abortion and in light of the Gospel. And you might be wondering, hopefully you are wondering what in the world does coronavirus have to do with abortion?

Were you wondering that whenever I ask you, hey, can you cover this topic?

No, because I was thinking, okay, pro life, life's in there and coronavirus kills, so it's anti-life, so okay, it's like abortion.

Yeah, yeah, it is. But in particular, and we'll touch on a few topics, what, you know, as far as the Christian response, what should our response be to this thing?

Because, you know, just full disclosure, I'm probably all over the map about this thing. I'm one of those guys who's like, you know, the government is going to tell me I can't go places or I can't do things.

The government ain't telling me squat. I'll do what I want. I'll take that attitude. But also, I'll take the attitude of, well, you know, God has put his under submission to the government and we were supposed to do things that as long as they're not telling us to disobey God, we're supposed to obey the government and that sort of thing.

So I'm in this tension of governing and telling me what to do and, you know, also wisdom. I need to use wisdom and, you know, as a pro life person who believes every life is valuable, there's some implications of not using wisdom and how my decisions and my actions can affect other people.

And that ties directly into abortion, which is, you know, one of the points that we're going to touch on is we're talking through. But what I wanted to do is I don't want, I wanted to not really, I guess, maybe we'll come to some conclude.

Conclusions here, but just have a conversation and just talk this through. Maybe you guys who are listening, you can help me. Maybe there's some points as we're going through this that we didn't mention that we didn't think through that we didn't talk about that we needed to. And you can help me.

And I don't want to help me be more clear on where I should stand on this. Again, I don't really care. I do care in the sense that, you know, the government says things and we're supposed to be in submission to the government, CDC, all of that.

But more than anything, I care about what the Bible says. What does the scripture say? So if you're going to argue with me about what my attitude should be toward the coronavirus, you're going to have to use scripture for me.

And some other stuff too. The scripture is going to be the main. And that's that's what we did in our attempt to, you know, to work through this discussion that we're about to have. We looked, we looked at scripture. For me, one of the, I think the biggest tension is who to believe. Is it that I'll read Run article where it's very terrifying. There was a family in New York at a family gathering, I think of 10. And seven, three of them died. And four of them are in ICU right now. Right. Out of seven out of 10. I mean, that's pretty terrifying. And then I read our

articles that that point, you know, print out all the numbers of people affected and and really a relatively low death rate lower than the flu from what I can see in America right now. And probably the coronavirus numbers are under reported. There's probably lots of people who've already had it and recovered or don't even know they have it because they're such a mild case. So that's for me. Yeah, who to believe. Yeah, who to believe. And and I just certainly is no help to get on Facebook and see

somebody's opinion there because I got you on my Facebook feed and we have a lot of the same folks as friends. I'm seeing every, every into the spectrum and everything in between. Yeah, stay out of the general public never even come out of your house. All who cares about this virus, you know, the other other end of the spectrum is just a government conspiracy.

Yeah, whatever. And you see so much. You see so much also on social media right now, at least in in our groups, which are in in my case, largely believers saying, oh, well, perfect love.

Cast out fear. If you love the Lord, you shall have no fear. And and basically your your faithless if if you're worried at all. Yeah. And and and then you know the the other side that that's saying you should be worried.

There's a lot of dials that toilet toilet paper you can you should be worried worried for your family and for your life. Yeah, I suspect, you know, the where we should end up is maybe

somewhere kind of down the middle. I like so it's like it's like that with a lot of stuff. There's this biblical tension of, you know, not going in one ditch or the other.
