It's a phrase often heard in church, but rarely lived out in a tangible way. Today, Francis Chan

confronts the quiet drift happening in the church and invites us to wrestle with this truth,

that following Jesus isn't about adding him to our plans, it's about letting go completely.

I threw my back out yesterday, so I'm just going to be standing still and leaning against this thing.

But someone was praying for me in the back and in the back.

A lot of people prayed over my back this morning, but it didn't work.

But someone go to a different church next week.

But I thought it was, you know, I always, I believe God's sovereign, and there's reasons for everything.

And even, you know, someone prayed for me, she was saying how, you know, maybe it's because sometimes it could be that you try so hard in the flesh and God wants to do something today that is at this

extreme level that nothing in your flesh is going to help that and and and and and and

maybe it's a letting go of what you normally do because you know how to get in front of a

crowd and you know how to teach and, okay, let me just do this, get it over with.

But maybe it's because God wants you to just stretch even deeper because there's something

bigger he wants to do today.

And I really believe that.

And even afterwards, you know, as I'm back there praying for you, I'm thinking, God, what do I want to see happen? And what I want to see happen

is something that is so massive. It was everything Dave was talking about just a few moments

ago. Because, okay, here's the truth about what I think. I could be

totally off, but here's what I think. What I see in scripture is that following Jesus is about

letting go of your old life, dying to yourself and being consumed with him and following him,

like what he says.
