0:11.0	I'm Tanya Wilmoth and right now we're in the book of Exodus.
0:15.8	Eric and I have four kids and they're going to be in middle school, high school and
0:19.1	college next year. And I also have a chance to mentor people around the same ages as my kids.
0:25.0	And for the young adults I get to mentor, I hear them talk about their parents and I wonder,
0:29.0	am I doing the things they're complaining about to my own kids.
0:33.2	And as a mom, I'm wondering,
0:34.8	what are my kids telling people about me?
0:38.3	When I hear young adults talking about their parents,
0:40.2	they usually want two things.
0:42.2	They want a relationship, and they want two things. They want a relationship and they want freedom.
0:44.4	And when I hear parents talking about their kids they also want two things. They want a
0:49.3	relationship and they want kids who don't mess up.
0:53.0	Parents especially have a hard time with transitions.
0:56.0	Whether it's kindergarten or college,
0:58.0	we struggle with freedom and limits
1:00.0	and how to protect our kids and when to let them fail.
1:03.0	It comes from a place of love, but we don't always do it well.
1:07.0	Now when the Israelites are in moments of transition,
1:09.0	God is always perfectly prepared to say exactly what they need to hear and give them exactly what they need to know.
