I'm John Mackenzie and I'm joined as I always am by my good pal and my good producer Mike Zimmerman

0:15.2

Mike Hading. I'm doing good it's getting a little cold here in the in the US

0:19.2

but trying to stay warm. Yep it's cold over here too but you know that what better weather to sit down and

0:24.5

listen to a conversation about football than then cold weather so we've got a really

0:29.9

good topic for people to get their teeth into today. In fact, not so much a topic as a

0:33.9

guest because we had Dean Holden, a former childhood manager coming on to talk to us, mainly

0:38.8

focusing on what does a manager do when they're between jobs. Mike, you listen to that conversation what did you make of it?

0:44.4

I mean it's fantastic how open and honest Dean was. I think both me and you going into the

0:50.7

the interview wasn't sure how much he was going to share and and he shared everything but the thing that really stood out to me was him talking about kind of this unwritten rule in the coaching fraternity where if a coach is out of a job they're welcomed into other

1:19.5

1:24.8

managers who are out of jobs.

1:26.7

Yeah and I think the reality is as Dean was saying throughout the interview you know he got

1:30.4

five games at the beginning of this season before he was fired.

1:33.2

It's an incredible amount of pressure to live under, right?

1:36.0

And the sort of you're only as good as your next five games.

1:38.1

That's a huge amount of pressure to operate under and I think all of those coaches know what that

1:41.7

pressure is like.

1:42.5

They understand the realities of football and how easy it can be for you to lose your job.
