It's an article of the Houston Chronicle last week about a shoe store in the Galleria.

And the question was, was it a shoe store or was it an apparel store?

And were they actually allowed to sell shoes or not?

And the crux of the issue was that an apparel store had started selling shoes that are clearly for a young black demographic.

Now, bull disclosure, so is the apparel or fashion that they were authorized in their lease to be sellers of.

Problem is they signed their lease back in 2018.

The Galleria has been for some time in a transition.

Away from what it long was, which was a destination.

People in Houston would go to the Galleria without a particular purchase in mind.

It was an activity, especially in the scalding heat or the rain.

When the weather was bad outside, it was an indoor activity.

Some lease would go, single people would go, people would go to walk.

You had the Merrill Lynch and several other companies had their entire offices there.

You had the activities downstairs with the ice rink.

You had the food court.

You could pretty much eat in whatever your, it's hard to get much in the way of fine dining, but they'd even done that.

But you could pretty much run the gamut on what you wanted.

Salads or sandwiches or soups or fast food.

You had the visible changes down there. You get your hair cut, stroll through, get a cookie, a smoothie.

It was like an indoor fair.

And it was safe until it wasn't because it started attracting a certain element
